About the Ravenwood PTA

We are proud to have an active and supportive PTA at Ravenwood Elementary. Along with the faculty and staff, parents play a vital role in promoting a healthy, safe, fun, and enriching experience for our children. A great way to contribute to the Ravenwood community is to become involved the PTA. The PTA works with teachers, staff, and principal to provide volunteer and financial support for programs that extend and enrich the curriculum provided by the Anchorage School District. When you join the PTA you become a part of the network of parents and teachers that are working to enhance every child’s educational experience at Ravenwood. Examples of past and present activities and resources provided by the Ravenwood PTA include:

Community building and fundraising events such as the Harvest Festival, Book Fair, and Holiday Bazaar
Family enrichment activities including Back-to-School-Picnic, Movie Night and Winter Fun Festival
Funding for computer technology, library materials, physical education equipment and field trip transportation
Monetary stipends for teachers for classroom supplies and continuing education
Volunteers and funding to support the Science Fair, Field Day, and Red Ribbon Week
Publishing and distribution of the Ravenwood School Directory
Coordination of the daily attendance program

Please contact the PTA about current volunteer opportunities. During the school day our volunteers assist teachers, work in the library, and help the office staff. When night falls, our PTA volunteers really get going with Family Fun nights such as Harvest Festival, Movie Night, and other events. These programs, events, and activities help to enrich the education, cultural, and social experience of our children but none of these would be possible without volunteer help.
